mmm, sunshine….

Today was one of those perfect days.

I woke up at about nine, had some fresh english waffles and honey-water (sounds wierd, tastes beyond awesome) for breakfast. Then mom brought me along to the grocery store, and we got back and had teriyaki beef jerky and dried mangoes (best combo EVER) and we checked the caller ID. Poppop apparently fell down the stairs cartwheel-style and hit his head and shoulder. So we get him to get out of his armchair for once and drop them off at the ER to make sure he didn’t dislocate his shoulder or something (nothing serious, so it didn’t ruin my day, and they always have candy and stuff at their house- see Original! post for details on the sugary goodness) and then we stopped back home. So then we go to our family’s customer Mrs. A’s place to get her mail sorted out. Seriously, the poor lady gets so much junk mail! But that was a good thing today ’cause it took mom like two hours to sort it all out. Two hours on Mrs. A’s property on a sunny day is like two hours in heaven.

Okay, so let me explain, there’s this really busy highwway with a little shoot off to the side. Most people go speeding pastit, but if you turn into it, you’re at the top of her driveway. So you go down this really steep and long driveway through some hugely thick woods and then the trees clear out. It’s sort of like a mini valley, to give you an idea of what I mean. So you just went down one hill of the valley and there’s a bit of a dip before you start going up again, and on the other rise is where Mrs. A’s house is. It’s killer antique, and literally, half of the place was built in like mid 1700’s, and one of the rooms is exactly as it was when it was built aside from furniture- the bricks are so smoothed down by people walking on them, it’s like polished wood (so cool). But that’s just the house.

On the way up to the house there’s a little bridge that goes over a creek that starts a while to the left of the house, and then it leads down under the bridge, and into a little ravine. To the right of the house, there’s a meadow that has another stream and after it falls off a little cliff, the waterfall goes under a natrual land bridge and leads into the ravine too. The ravine sort of curves to the left a little next to the pond before it straightens out again and fades into the woods where there’s a little bit of marsh. The pond is pretty much independant of the two streams that lead into the ravine, and it’s about 50 feet by 30 feet in a sort of oval, maybe fifteen or twenty feet deep in the very middle. It’s loaded with bass and sunfish that are pretty average sized, but then there’s a carp and a catfish that are both about three feet long.

So take that and add eighty degrees to it, mix in some awesomely nice sunshine, me and my gigantic dork dog, and you have some soaking wet and spastically happy people. Well if people means Auggie and I. ‘Cause we were definitely spastically happy, and I’m still a little damp. I like creeks.

So, for me, my definition of perfect day includes dried mango slices, beef jerky, sunshine, a temperature between 70 and 95 degrees, running water, the ability to harass geese (okay, so we might’ve run at them with some pine cones, got a problem with that?) my dog, my family, and if possible my friends. So I’ve gotten 8 out of 9 requirements filled, so I am on a cloud. Oh wait, there aren’t any of them around today. 🙂 I love cloudless days. So I’ve got that going for me. Which is nice.

Oh, and by the way, points to anyone who can recognize which movie that quote came from.

                           Cheers

Aeron: speaking of food and lunch, i totally agree about the mangos,

Me: I know! Theyre AWESOME. Oh, and heads up for perhaps a little Texas twang today, all yesterday my mom and i were singing Sheryl Crow and the few Taylor Swift songs we know.

Me: Hey, I got it right, just not in order, it’s been like whole month since I last saw that (woah, a record!)

Tayn: I still feel deeply and personally assaulted. That was the most violating curse I’ve ever heard, and not only do I live with her *jerks a thumb towards Maddie* I live with her father as well, not to mention her cousins so that is really saying something.

Me: *rolls eyes* Oh deal with it you little pussy. *snickers* ha, you’re a cat!- and- and- called- you- pussy- – pussy cat- *bursts into hysterics*

Tayn: I’m taking me and my superior intellect elsewhere thank you. *stalks out with nose in air*

      Me: *still laughing*
